So currently there's speculation that the Avenge challenge is bugged. Yet some players are getting avenges in the middle of nowhere and in small bandit camps. So we want to test out this theory. For the next 5 days we want everyone across all platforms to go to 1 specific location, remove all your armor, and die in that area. We want to see if avenge bodies will start popping up.

So the new weekly challenges have posted and unfortunately one of the new timed challenges is avenging a players deaths which we cannot complete since the functionality doesn't exist yet. So now we have a Core challenge for avenging 10 players deaths that can't be completed and now a weekly Timed challenge to avenge player's deaths that can't be completed. Any chance Ubi can update the Timed challenge at least so we can at least collect the Opals from a challenge that can be completed?

Here is a cleaned up version I posted on Reddit so you don't have to scroll through all the comments our the Ubisoft forum testing thread.

@imaginaryruins Very frustrating since it prevents you from completing the Fishing Hut delivery missions and therefore prevents you from getting the Swordfish melee weapon and completing the Ubisoft mission for wielding it.

@melarlo What's funny is I was in that cave last night when I was exploring the Eurvicscire area. I kept looking at all the markings on the wall in that room seeing if somehow they aligned to the current rune locations potentially giving insight into where others might be. But it didn't result in me finding anything new though.

@alphagoose46219 Can you please post screenshots? I just want to confirm that they are BIG Flatfish since they spawn in England but the BIG Mackerel should only spawn in Norway. A screenshot would help a lot of us who have search countless hours trying to complete the quest. Thanks in advance

@yesin069 And you are absolutely right. A little stronger communication with the player base on a regular basis wouldn't hurt. There are members on the Discord group but communication about progress is limited even there. A big point you make is that some people are not able to understand when things are out of their hands. The patch is out there waiting to be verified prior to release similar to smartphone app stores. Likewise, the development team is already working on the next patch. They have bugs/work items already targeted for the next build. So hypothetically speaking, when you have a near 75% full schedule for the next patch, what happens when you get unexpected cases, new bugs, etc. that pop up. Based on severity, criticality, etc. you prioritize them which then means some of the stuff you originally targeted for the next patch gets pushed back because of another more critical item. I guess my point is while some seem to have a grasp on the release process a lot don't have a good understanding of the schedule, development, and internal test process.
Each of us have our own priority list. I'd love for fish to be fixed but the impact to the game / story is minimal compared to main quest bugs that prevent progress. Am I annoyed fish haven't been fixed yet? Yes. Do I understand why? Absolutely. But me flooding the forums with new threads about issues that are already known won't make it any more of a priority or get fixed any sooner. After the last set of patches, it seems like they have their schedule set on a monthly release with the middle of the month typically being the release timeframe. So they get a solid sprint of 2 weeks development, 1 week of testing / post-test development fixes, and then 1 week post-release for verification. There's a lot of moving parts in the development world.
Enough rambling from me haha. Here's hoping to some awesome fixes and new content coming our way next week! -

@ubi-woofer Unfortunately not sure what you would want in a picture or video. I mean we could go to the Flatfish spawn point and show a video of an hour fishing and getting nothing but small and regular and showing no big flatfish and we could do likewise with Mackerel in Norway but I don't see how they would provide any insight for the development team. Obviously the development team knows where the spawn points are and if they use a release build they should easily see that something is preventing them from spawning or at least in a playable area. I've noticed a few times that if I tried shooting other variants of big fish that they will sometimes fall through the floor. So not sure if those fish are present and just under the fishable area or what.

@tchester1980 That's pretty awesome. I'm just glad to see it working for so many people and knowing this is one more challenge we can check off the list. Now if we can only figure out the fishy part of the fish challenge to make it 31/31 complete...

I still don't get why it was important to remove the challenge but leave the quests relating to the challenge in the game.
Because completionist are OCD and it drives them crazy. The challenge being temporarily removed satisfies them. The fact that the missing fish are listed on the future update means that the issue has been identified/investigation completed/coding fixed which makes me very hopefully for the next patch to have them back at which point the challenge will be re-enabled. -

@imaginaryruins I'd like to be hopeful that they are fixing it in the next monthly patch but it would seem silly to remove it for 14 days if they were adding it then. Fingers crossed but at least there's a little more acknowledgement on it.

@neovoltron They are fixing it. It specifically states "temporarily" deactivated and they'll let us know when they "challenge is live again".

@makemake94 Because I have a theory that the big flatfish don't spawn unless you have your rod out. That's the reason that bow hunters aren't seeing anything other than small/regular but if you notice the rodders are the ones that seem to be catching an uncatchable fish that never triggers the catch action. I can rod and catch small and regular all day but what would potentially be a large seems to glitch. I've been working a few things trying to see if there's a possible way to trigger one event and go to the other but no luck yet.

@bigtflatfish So it was a joke response as I know that won't be the real reward for solving Odin's. I just thought it would be funny that the creative director creates a riddle not known by other devs that rewards two big fish types only to have devs, community managers, and players thinking the fish are bugged when they are just elaborately hidden within a riddle. I am curious to see what the end-result reward will be though.

@vanadiumcobalt I'm tracking with you. Ragnar's was definitely bugged. Noden's wasn't bugged but the community found a bug to allow player's to bypass the method intended to obtain it. Odin's... well we just have no clue yet. I mean Noden's required some specific equipment and timing and I can only imagine the Odin's runes and possibly the caves behind all of them will require something specific too. Probably something like Odin's staff with 3 specific runes after it rains. I would HOPE that it's not bugged though but I just imagine we haven't figured out the requirements for it yet. Hehe... maybe solving Odin's runes puzzle will unlock big flatfish/mackerel.

@vanadiumcobalt Community Managers and nearly all developers aren't going to comment, confirm/deny Easter eggs/riddles/secrets in the game. Darby McDevitt, the director, has confirmed we are on to something but part of the fun and enjoyment for the creators is watching the community solve it. Similar to Noden's Arc, it was confirmed great job brute forcing it but that is not the legitimate way. Watching all the clues get pieced together from the collector's case, etc is part of the enjoyment for the creators. So I wouldn't expect much more than that as we continually try new theories especially ones revolving around there being only six Odin's runes and linking it together with the Isu Image #6, 6 Messengers, etc.. We'll eventually figure it out.

I'd just like to offer a small correction with regard to the Known Issues list. The "planned to be addressed with future updates" covers issues where a fix is confirmed and will be included in a future update, while the "under investigation" section includes formally recognised issues which a fix is still in the process of being identified for. The issue being in that latter section does not mean it will not be fixed, just that a fix is not yet confirmed / planned. Thanks.
Which basically means that as it stands right now, Big Flatfish/Mackerel won't be fixed in the next update. -
in Player Support by TheeElf
@neovoltron It actually was but they moved it from the known issues to resolved with the Title Update 1.1.2. Until they complete their investigation they likely won't move it back to known issues yet.

@hroozenbeek If you look at my screenshot though, I'm practically standing in the same spot. We're you actively doing the Will o' the Wisp quest when he was spawning? I'm just wondering if it is a one-time only thing during that quest.
