@lukensen87 Indeed! Valhalla stepping away from the whole fantasy and demigod nonsense is my biggest praise of it!
And I'm sure ppl are going to flame me for this, but oh well. The further this series can move from Odyssey, the better. That game was bloated, boring, grindy AF, and frankly should be ashamed to have Assassin's Creed in the title
I'm unable to enter Skrymir's Mitten for the Lost Cauldron mission because I went in there earlier to collect two of the blood stones. I thought the recent patch would fix this, but nope. Nothing.
Really frustrating to deal with since people told me how important Jotunheim is, yet I cant friggin' finish and I'm almost completed with the main story (I think).
Anyone else have this issue?
Although I wish there was at least a bit more variety in weapon designs we can use, I still prefer it to the RNG loot nonsense we've had for the past two games. It brings me back to the better better days and games of Assassin's Creed (in my opinion).
Also kind of irks me seeing all the cool armor and weapon sets in the store, but that's just Ubisoft being Ubisoft, I guess lol.
@cell1e And what you just mentioned was an absolutely horrible system that, I say again, should have never been implemented in the first place. The requirements to upgrade gear (especially legendaries) and your ship were frankly absurd. It was a grind fest designed to make the player do runs on the Athens' wall for hours and hours to collect dozens of duplicates for material. Or... you know... fork over your money and skip the whole grind they purposely set up...
Sounds to me like Ubisoft created a problem within the game, and sold you the solution (aka solution selling). This is the kind of nonsense that should NOT be an accepted thing in gaming, let alone single-player only games.
The issue again is from Valhalla's lack of loot, not the system itself. Like I was saying earlier, AC Unity had this system nailed down years ago with far more options in armor and weapons. You were constantly unlocking unique gear from beginning till end. Why isn't thisthe case in Valhalla? Who knows, perhaps it's due to COVID screwing up everything and the publisher's refusal to delay the game, but it definitely needsto be expanded.
@dl_thunderr The game needs to adjust the experience required to level up and also how they give away skill points like candy.
Theres a lot of [censored] to fill up in the trees, yeah, but I'm also sitting on 100+ skill points in order not to over level myself and make the game's difficulty a joke. Currently running through the 160 power level areas, did a decent amount of exploring and I'm technically power level 265.
@jpabenites no thanks.
Valhalla's system is much better as it actually rewards exploring and finding weapon chests, unlike in Odyssey where you just had to find the golden question mark amidst the sea of grey ones. It was easily the least fun I ever had playing that blasted game, opening up all these chests and getting the same spartan breastplate for the 57th time.
Do I think Valhalla would benefit from having more gear in general? Of course, that would be great, but the RNG and loot system is not something I felt EVER had to be implemented into this franchise. What they started in AC Unity was fantastic, and should've been the model going forward.
@ranger_two14 I'm experiencing the exact same bug.
I decided to get all the blood stones after talking to the Witch where she says to get her the roots for the exilir. Two of the stones are in the giant's mitten so I just strolled in, picked them up, and then went on my way. Well, now I actually have to go inside there for a mission but now theres like an invisible wall preventing me. I tried quitting, booting back up and nothing. Left back to England, came back but still nothing. My last manual save would take me back dozens of hours of gameplay, so that's not an option.
@medved_nbg I personally think the bosses (Zealots are Seers specifically) are fine and need no changing. They offer some challenge and strategy to beat, and dont rely just on having billions of health like mercenaries in Odyssey.
However... The zealots with shields could use a slight rework. Not because they're too challenging, but BORING. They'll sometimes walk around for ten seconds at a time with their shield up and never leave an opening for attacks. Fights with them have lasted up to ten minutes because I cant hit them. Makes me wonder if thats a design choice or bugged programming.
@rumenrs disagree with a lot of your points, however this game clearly needed months of polish and bug fix.
I cant move for longer than 40ft without seeing some stupid bug. I have two world events that are glitched out and cannot be completed. The Lost Cauldron mission is glitched out so Jotenhiem is on the back burner. NPCs are always ruining cutscenes by either walking through me or objects in the background. Falling infinitely where two rocks meet, only to finally die from a 15 centimeter fall. Jumping off a ledge/ceiling/post, hitting the ground then warping back up and then down again - constantly.
I've been playing Ubisoft games since The Sands of Time on the Ps2 so I'm used to their style of clunkiness. However launching Valhalla in this state is unnacceptable
