It's been great to see the community come together and talk about this problem over the last few months.
However, on that glorious day (hopefully not too far in the future) when some lucky sod posts "I've got a big one!" (Dirty minded lot, get your mind out of the gutter!) all I'll say is they'd better come armed with screenshots so other people know where to go
Otherwise they might need to watch their backs!
@t34416l31 With respect, the only ridiculous thing is the increasingly out of control hysteria about this.
To be clear, this is a glitch in a SIDE MECHANIC (not even core gameplay) that will be one of many in a list containing others issues you don't care about but others do. Personally, I think the game is in a pretty good state considering the size and complexity of it.
And asking if community managers like @Ubi-Borealis and their colleagues "care" at all is borderline offensive to them. Again, IMO they do a good job to relay information from the devs (key point they AREN'T devs) and try and suggest options and workarounds. Get off their case.
If a small issue like this is making you re-consider buying another Ubisoft product then perhaps what you need then is a reality check on what is very much a first world problem
Morning - downloaded and played for a few hours this morning to try and finish outstanding tasks.
While fish have started to spawn for me again around Norway's coastline, I am still seeing fish around Cent and other coastline areas disapear after 10 seconds or so - haven't been able to catch any Bream at all since the game was first released
2, Treasure Maps
Prior to the patch I had 2 maps - for Oxfordshire and Eurvicscire - that refused to leave my inventory. After the patch I went back to try again. Both gave me XP, but still neither of them left my inventory - although the Eurvicscire did drop a sail schematic regardless
So I've all of a sudden had this happen to me repeatedly today for the first time - both before and after the new patch downloaded.
In each case, the programme reaches the page displaying the epilesy warning - but then plays in the background the sounds from the following splash screens, like the Ubisoft logo. Once the sounds stop then the game crashes to desktop.
This is new behaviour as the last time I loaded up the game a few weeks ago for the festival it played without incident. I've restarted my machine, checked for updates on drivers, windows update, etc but there is no action to be take there - fundamentially nothing substantial has happened to my machine since I last played. I use Norton 360 which is upto date as well - turning that off and launching didn't solve the problem
Each time it crashed I've submitted a crash report which I can't access so therefore can't attach here - but I'm hopeful it's gone in under my username so should be easily found?
Does this sound at all like what's been happening to other people? This thread has been going since November so I don't want to presume it's the same problem and thus hijack it!
@skyhawg - Good to know!
@Ubi-Borealis has this been flagged up at all today/in the recent past in a different thread? If so, are there any known workarounds?
@skyhawg Found my problem at least - I had moved my PC set up recently - and when I had put it all back together I had put my monitor cable into the non-graphic card slot.
The lack of information from the NVIDIA control panel was the clue. Might be worth checking that in case that's helpful to you as well?
