Cant make it more simple, please optimize this game for the next gen consoles.
Updating older games was nice and all that, but this game deserves a bit of loving guys and girls at Ubisoft.
I own the gold version for all platforms, meaning I love this game to pieces and have spend hundreds of hours in the world you created. (Cassandra all the way.. sorry Alexios..)
And there are many that really wish to see at the very very least an FPS boost maybe?
Though I think there is room for optimizing the graphics aswell, better textures, volumetric clouding etc.
Least that all seems to be missing on the series X.
There used to be a topic on this somewhere on the old forum, but it seems to be gone here after the transition.
@jutzukan I already made a topic on this, no replies ofcourse.
Its not you though, so dont worry, i had a similar issue.
It seems rare, a sudden CTD, checking the eventviewer at first will only talk about display driver crash/reset.
Looking a little further in the applications logs, you'll most likely see 4 windows error report messages.
2 will be about D3DDRED2 and 2 will be additional logs about 'livekernel 141', which is a very generic code for saying 'something went wrong' lol.
Anyway the "DRED2" part is basically DX12.
So this either a GPU driver problem, which is possible if i look at the complaints on nividia forum about 457.30, it seems to cause alot of issues especially with the latest games it was released for in the first place.
OR its a AC Valhalla issue, which i personally suspect because the game is mentioned in the DRED2 logs. (you'll see a list of p1 to 8, with GPU code ie VEN10D or somesuch, windows 10 code and program name causing the crash)
So, something in relation to the GPU and DX12 causes a driver crash caused by something Valhalla does, which could be a memory leak but can also be faulty coding somewhere.
@johnweakaimbot I also got some "amd user" replies on Reddit with the same issue.
So im going to agree its very likely not the drivers perse, but something wrong with Valhalla.
Either way, its DX12 related and the devs will have to start there.
I should note the same thing happened for a while for Legions but also The Division 2.
Unless im mistaken, certainly TD2 got a patch eventually for the CTD's, so they ought to know in what direction to look for a solution by now.
@kmarkopl They had no issue doing this for some of the far older AC (remastered) titles.
I don’t see any reason why they can’t or wouldnt.
Ubisoft is a huge company with like 8 studios to work with.
Also AC Odyssey still outsells Valhalla, weekly.
Its also played far more , daily, with an average on PC alone of 5000 consistent players peaking to ~10.000.. Daily! (Steamcharts)
Nobody cares about Valhalla. (Sorry Ubisoft!, it only sold well due to Corona)
Not sure about the saving part, but whenever i touch my mouse, it switches to KB/M as controls right? Okay, but it will stutter for a moment and the sound drops.
Same happens when i now touch my (normal microsoft xbox one for PC) controller, sound drops for a moment and the game stutters.
It seems to stay smooth as long as i dont switch around like that, but its not normal behaviour.
I think it may also happen when the game auto saves, but i cant be sure on that because it might just be my accidentally bumping into my table or maybe my mouse moves, it happens, so that might be nothing.
But please look into this.
@g4m3rch1c_12 It is possible yes.
By doing certain Daily or Weekly quests that give Orachium or however you write that.
You can indeed buy all kinds of sets and weapons etc.
What you can buy changed partially daily and partially weekly.
Might take a while ofcourse depending on what sets you want or how much/often you play.
Basically as title says, its on a shelf in a house behind Walden, it cannot be picked up.
There simply isnt a pickup prompt even though the HUD shows its something you should be able to pick up.
@cavveman Hi thanks for replying, but no it have not been to Walden before.
I tend to, as a pure autistic gamer :P, go 1 by 1 to every "thing" on the map.
So i know i didnt pick it up yet, as i hadnt travelled to that side of the map yet.
Anyway its simply bugged.
The D3DDRED2 crashes are becoming more frequent for some reason.
At first i thought it was the videocard, but no problem can i discover in terms of technical issues with it.
It could still be the driver but as i have no reason to roll back (due to everything else working fine) im going to leave the drivers as-is.
For me though, reading the eventviewer logs, it remains clear its Valhalla that causes the crashes.
It even froze while triggering that error, normally it would just CTD.
Its just way to similar to what AMD and nvidia users alike are experiencing.
Keep in mind, the error code is a direct reference to the dx12 api, thats got nothing to do with drivers (in rare cases, maybe) but almost always in relation to the app using the api.
Prettt much as title says, when starting up, get to the point of “checking addons”, it tends to crash to homescreen.
It doesnt happen often, but often enough that i feel i ought to report this.
Start game again, no problems.
It never has crashed while playing, so far. (68 hours)
This seems to have started after the discovery tour part was released.
There is no possible fix on my end, though I do notice this can happen if items were added like from an Amazon gaming prime freebies.
Or after I have changed something big in the menu, like switching from hybrid to controller only.
Like the last crash happened when I started it back up so : crash to homescreen, started it again, noticed in the menu it was now all of a sudden set to keyboard and mouse only because controller didn’t respond seemingly, I definitely didn’t do that.
@coramdaes
Its more about behavior then choices. (I mean In conversations)
Best option is to make happy with everyone as much as possible or [censored] everyone off.
There are consequences in the very long run depending on how much you care.
@tomius777
To be honest, people who claim the 1660(oc) is wonderful, it’s basically a 980ti, maybe.
Anything less then an rtx 2060 isn’t going to cut it, maybe if gtx 1080(ti) were still around, which i wouldn’t recommend buying, it wouldn’t be a problem.
Ive spend a lot of time around a lot of builds, the 1660 is a bare minimum for any game really.
@lord-locksley
Never had an issue with it to be honest.
Always 60fps fixed. (Vsync on)
Had a 16gbddr4, i7 5820k cpu and at first a gtx980, later on a rtx 2060 OC edition from asus.
Not exactly top notch, but never an issue.
@sebbjulien
personally I found alexios’s voice to be, for a lack of better wording, too cartoonish.
I like kassandra a lot better for a more immersive feel, but thats just me.
I think choice and having a choice, is always better then no choice at all.
@gorkhalihero No, this is sadly only a thing for AC Valhalla.
I had high hopes when series X / ps5 came out, they would also do this for at least Odyssey, but sadly no.
@longjohn119
well let’s hope for a remastered version.. but that’s probably going to take a while lol.
@ubi-nacho
All my saves are on the cloud, most are manual saves as I always do that before I exit the game, switching to previous save games to overwrite from time to time (so no only 1 savefile I keep overwriting, there are several) and I can clearly see them all labeled like one local and one with cloud icon.
So no worries there.
Most recent save should have about 117 hours on it, I’ll admit I have stopped playing lately due to this bug but also time constraints.
edit I know You directed this question to someone else, but as it’s my thread I wanted to also answer.
@ubi-mercury No and this should be a known issue by now..
There are or have been quite a few threads on this.
I have ofcourse done things like clearing the cache with a powercycle, but that made things worse.
Where before clearing the cache, crashes could happen just walking around, not necessarily with a sound drop. (Made a thread on that before)
After clearing the cache I run into what other people have reported, sound starts stuttering, dropping altogether, freeze/black screen and a crash to homescreen.
There are no error codes.
This only happens in raventhorp.
I can go and play everywhere else, but any “warp” back to raventhorp is an almost guaranteed crash.
It’s best heard with the footsteps from the raiders on your boot walking on the docks to town, you can hear the footsteps just pop in and out, considerably worse if it also happens to rain.
Now this sound and soundtrack disappearing (also during cutscenes and conversations) seems to be in the known issue list, but I do suspect it’s closely related to the crashes as it’s always accompanied by a crash during sound getting all weird.
This very specifically started happening after oskeria festival / tombs of the fallen update.
@ubi-borealis I almost want a rollback considering 1.4.0 causes consistent and reproducible crashes in ravensthorn with weird missing sounds(tracks), stuttering of sound and quickly followed by a crash, reported by many but not responded to by anyone it seems, it’s not even in the list of known issues.
Cant even enter ravensthorp now since this osk. Festival update.
worked before, but warping to the docks instead of center/longhouse, sound stutter, disappears, freezes, crash to homescreen.
fix your Shi.. seriously.
This is ridiculous after a year of release.
