The Vinland Mechanic of losing your gear when you travel there, only to have to build it up, then when you travel back it's gone, really sucks.
It's a slap in the face to all the hours of character/gear building you spent before going to Vinland.
I would understand if at some point I could get my regular gear while in Vinland, but not immediately, but the fact it's gated the entire time makes me not want to even bother.
Sad to see such a cool concept be such a waste.
So I noticed a glitch that occurs where Bjorn the Berserker becomes unequipped from my Longship Crew on certain occassions, forcing me to travel back to Ravensthorpe to get him back.
This does not occur on loadscreens as far as I can tell,I believe it occurs whenever a quest is completed, or when the world's environment changes.
Occurs when I reload into the game from the title screen.
Would appreciate him just staying on the crew lol.
Maybe, I feel like this game doesn't do that though.
I can definitely feel that some of the people behind the game have that mindset without a shadow of a doubt, however, this game is definitely far more non-political than their previous titles.
Give them credit where credit is due please, because if we don't, they'll just double down on what they think is right.
On the action wheel, the player can start a raid by sounding the horn.
Whenever a raid isn't present however, I feel the player should be able to call his/her crew for support by sounding the horn, assuming they are close enough to the longship.
Also, during Longship ambushes, the player's crew should hop out of the longship to fight, rather than all of them staying in there shooting arrows, leaving only Eivor to fight.
Add NPC Longships to the game that go up and down the river, raiding other settlements and occasionally the players if they are at the settlement and not active in a quest.
If NPC longships are added, make sure they aren't too common, so encountering one is a cool and unique experience.
In Odyssey, there were so many ships all over the place, it became a monotonous experience when fighting NPC ships, so by having Longship encounters be a rare, yet memorable experience, it would greatly add to the game's Viking atmosphere.
Some of these Longships could also be friendly, showing them travel to and from Ravensthorpe.
Would be interesting to see, feels out of place being the only Longship on the rivers.
How does it break your immersion that a Viking is doing Viking things?
Do you expect the Vikings to go and have tea with the people at the monasteries and ask them to give the Vikings their stuff?
Also Honor for Vikings was different than Honor to us.
It was in fact honorable to slaughter a monastery full of innocent men, for battle, was the greatest honor.
What was dishonorable to the Vikings, was not participating in the raids, I.E. slaughter.
They didn't slaughter women though, they would just capture them and make them concubines.
Children were usually captured as slaves or adopted if they were young enough.
Women were fair game to do what you described, but Vikings weren't allowed to just murder them (unless they were fighting back with a weapon), because women were valuable, sometimes more valuable than the silver they raided for.
Same with children.
The only exception to this is if the woman was pregnant, then they'd just kill them.

Trust me, early access is far worse.
Valhalla plays more like its in late beta.
Meaning the game works for the most part, everything is there, it just needs bugs patched up, and random objects around the world patched up such as floating trees or buildings with no static doors.
Generational leaps are done for monitor/TV gaming.
We've hit a plateau in what the hardware can output for a reasonable price.
Basically, if they want to make video cards better, it'll take even more precious metals, making them have an ever increasing price.
Not talking about moving in cities, I know that is a part of the game, and honestly in my opinion helps out alot, just wished it was optional.
However, something I'm pretty sure is a bug, and if not, horrible design choice, is that the horse only moves at in-city movement speed when being chased, even out in the wild on flat road.
Makes no sense that my character is going as fast as he can then can't all the sudden because I'm being chased?
Wouldn't somebody go faster if being chased, especially by a way higher level zealot?
Ian Malcom didn't say "must go slower" in Jurassic Park afterall lol.
Maybe make the Zealot / other horsemen ride faster to catch the player instead of slowing the player down?

Is this what you're referencing?
In that case, it's pretty accurate that we don't have mounted combat in this, albeit, maybe just occasional mounted combat would be nice.
You can still fire arrows from horseback though, that's a valid tactic for hunting, it's what I do.
