So one of the main reasons people have a problem with the current gear system in Valhalla, is that there is a lack of stuff to pick up, or moreso that all the stuff you tend to pick up has only one purpose, and that's to be sold.
So that is why I suggest non-equippable weapons to be added to the game, that aren't broken, whose only purpose is the be sold or dismantled.
By having them be non-equippable, there's no sifting through unwanted gear to see if there's one you want to keep, its just deciding do you need the materials or silver more.
When a piece of loot is dismantled, it will give a varying amount of materials depending on the type of item, with certain types dropping only from certain power levels of enemies.
Sometimes dismantled items could give;
a rune gem, a treasure map, an opal, an ingot, trade goods used for the Hunting Lodge in the settlement, a map with a key that is used to unlock a piece of gear only found through dismantling items, etc
By adding in a mechanic like this, I believe it will fill the void of the majority of people not having enough to loot, while not undoing the progress made by Valhalla's gear system that the other half of the playerbase loves.
Obviously there will be those that love the Diablo/Borderlands loot style that just throws an abundance of randomized loot at you, and they still may not be happy with a loot system like this.
Some people also just don't like their games to change, which I'm not saying is a good or a bad thing.
