@ubi-baron I have all my games installed on a M.2 NVMe drive. All games run fine with the exception of Valhalla which gets stuck at the splash screen.
@sora546 mine was the microsoft storage space issue.. converted my ssd to a normal drive and its now working.. never even heard of a storage space until today..
Game has been fine up until this morning when i noticed that all the dialog was muted. subtitles are working fine, but no sound when characters speak in cutscenes and interactions. all ambient sounds and dialog work. verified that all settings were set to English. Anyone know what could cause the game to suddenly do this?

Like many others I was unable to launch my game, and was stuck at the splash screen where nothing else would happen. I managed to fix this, and hope these steps help others:
Run a DXDiag and see if the drive you have the game installed on is listed as "Microsoft Storage Space Device"
if it is... that's likely your problem. Unfortunately I believe the only way of converting the drive to a "normal" drive is to format it... (this caused me lose all the games I had installed on my M.2 drive.. but hey they can always be reinstalled right???)
Here are the steps:
hopefully this helps someone else having the splash screen issue.
please reference this link and scroll down to where it says "how to delete a storage space" if you have any problems following my instructions.. it has pretty pictures..

@seniilisika I refuse to cripple my gameplay by installing on a HDD in lieu of SSD.. mikght as well have thrown my money out the window instead of buying the SSD.
