I get that this is meant as a feature and that many people enjoy these kinds of events, and for one or two days I do too!
After that though, I'm simply annoyed by the sheer amount of butterflies and fireflies which invaded my beautiful settlement. and since those two weeks of Ostera will most likely cover my whole first playthrough, I will not once see Raventhorpe as it's meant to be, but will be stuck in eternal Ostera madness while world-changing events happen, worth of a few years of real time.
In short, it's simply unimmersive and doesn't fit the idea of how time passes during a whole playthrough of the story for me.
Options for toggling off these events would be VERY MUCH appreciated.
I don't want to switch Connect to offline since I am using cloud saves and simply don't want to kill all internet features of the game. .
I'm still getting random crashes on PC at different times and in different places doing different things.
Since this happened during anomalies 3 times now I am at a point where I'm inclined to just stop playing at this point.
Running win10 with a Ryzen 6600 and an RTX 3070. Drivers are all up to date including graphics and chipset drivers. Windows updates are up to date. Tried turning off anti virus, validating files and so on. Basically all the burning rings support makes you jump through when having no idea what's wrong and going through the list of general trouble shooting.
A "This is known and will be adressed next patch" would be very welcome.
@decahertz during the time the game is set it, the christian church already began to be mostly about power and politics, which only grew worse in later medieval times. That considered it really does not have much to do with real Christianity. There are however characters in the game who are portrait very respectfully in their christian faith and even the coexisting of pagan and christian beliefs are highlighted in many cases. They really wouldn't have to do that.
Concerning upside down crosses (which I didn't notice in the game): Their satanic meaning is a modern interpretation. Inverted crosses are actually crosses of Saint Peter who insisted of being crucified upside down since he felt unworthy of dying like Jesus did. So during medieval times, those are not a mockery at all.
There is a lot of positive portrayal of christian faith in the game, just not necessarily connected to the church. It's more connected to some characters.
And really, vikings raiding monasteries should scream a lot worse things than what they do in the game... and they should also slaughter any civilian they come across because they really didn't care. The raiding part is already pretty dimmed down, and I guess they did that because it's harder to connect to a character who kills harmless people.
In a way some might argue that the portrayal of norse beliefs is lacking as well and not very respectful and accurate...
Game was stable for a long while after the Ostera event. Now that I'm playing again during an online event the same crashes happen again, frequently and very annoying.
Can we PLEASE just get an option to opt out of these online crap? I don't need it and apparently there's a connection between them and at least my crashes.
@rickidoo2010 I'm absolutely fine with the topic itself, and if it was in a GTA game it would have fit the way it was done. Dani though would never have watched him drive off and just tolerate it. In my opinion that sends the wrong message. For me it makes it look like something that can be tolerated by someone who is usually in rage at the thought of slavery and oppression, which Dani pretty much is.
That's my criticism. The message the game sends by letting a character like Dani stand by and tolerate human trafficking like that.
A friend of mine actually rage quit after this scene and didn't touch the game again.
I, myself made up my head canon and chalked it off as really bad writing and played on. But well, today my free week of Ubi+ ends and for now I actually won't buy the game because of this one scene.
I get to play FC6 as part of one week of Ubisoft+ access thanks to Twitch Prime.
I'm playing for a while now and was actually about to buy this game once my ubi+ access ran out next week, until I learned about the "Precious Cargo" mission where Dani watches a human trafficker drive off with a load of women they helped rescue before and does NOTHING about it.
I have no problem with questioning the moral of FCs heroes, that was always a thing, but THIS is not only too much but so absolutely out of character and so brutally wrong, it kinda hurts to play on in Dani's skin.
This topic already came up a few times I think, and to be honest, I think this mission either needs to go or should be changed to fit at least how the main character is narrated.

Just for the records:
No crashes since that stupid Ostera Festival is gone!
@valorin replying to myself here since I can't edit my post anymore:
Obviously I totally misread the OP...
I do NOT want to keep the decorations...
I mean, why not add an option to add whatever we want to keep since it's our game and maybe even toggle through all the available festivals whenever we want and NOT make them depending on the time of the real year and have our own timeline for festivals within the game, or just toggle them off. That way every player could customize and use the content provided to its full extend and however they like. Because customer is king, right?
@ubikoreanbbq I didn't submit a support ticket because I was 99% certain they would come up with all those tests I, and yourself, mentioned. And of course those are in place to ensure it's not some unlikely quirk somewhere in the system. But they take a lot of time to perform in some cases and I _really_ don't feel like investing half a day to jump through all those loops (and I did that before with another support which was not Ubisoft) when in the end all I need to do is wait for a patch. Chances are, that if _all_ the other games I own work splendidly, including very new titles and also including AC Origins and Odyssey which use the same engine at least, that my system is not at fault.
That's not a 100% of course, but the chance that it's the game is high enough to not invest the time to perform an in-depth system checkup for this.
So, of course support is eager to help, but if there's not an "this is a known issue and will be fixed" answer, I respectfully decline and wait for a patch anyway.
Funny enough: no crashes today since the Ostera festival stuff is finally gone. Coincidence? I think not.
@mdaw11 Mine is on 60hz by default so that's not it for me.
I'm also almost certain it's not just the graphics card type, otherwise there would be more people reporting this and not just two who coincidentally have the same card.
There's already a few threads about this, but to be honest, there can't be enough...
I started the game today only to for once see Raventhorpe in its normal state.
For my whole first playthrough it was wrapped in festival garments and full of butterfly and fireflies. Only things missing to make a children's birthday party complete was a pony and a clown...
I tried turning off the Connect overlay and started the game in offline mode. Festival persisted.
Can we please NEVER again get any festival stuff FORCED on us in this _single-player_ game?!?
A toggle somewhere in the menu for deactivating seasonal content would be lovely.
This is a reason not to play the game during certain times of the year and real setback for me.
Also: my crashes are gone since today.

Vikings are very romanticised in the game, yeah. It's most noticable when raiding a monastey, Eivor screams to burn and plunder christian gold and then everyone just ignores all the monks and people running around and kill soldiers only. We are supposed to like Eivor though, and if he/she would slaughter innocents, that would be more authentic, but not very likable.
What I really don't like about the restriction is, that especially when wielding a two handed weapon, civilians would be stupid enough to run into the blade while fighting soldiers. I really love my two handed sword, even if it's not authentic. There were no two handed swords back then like we have them in the game. Really looking forward to get my hands on a one-handed one.
@karloz1995 I think Kassandra is the very best AC character after Ezio. I return to the game simply because I like her so much.
